19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after spring of that year.

Success also means he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play positively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
